What to Expect at Yuma Veterinary Clinic

Your Pet’s Annual Exam
During your pet’s yearly checkup, we’ll do a full nose-to-tail physical exam—checking their ears, eyes, teeth, skin, heart, and everything in between. If your pet isn’t a fan of having their teeth brushed at home (and let’s be honest, most aren’t!), we may recommend a professional dental cleaning to prevent disease and discomfort.
Just like us, pets can experience changes in behavior or health that are easy to miss day-to-day. We recommend keeping a notebook or notes on your phone with things like:
- Any changes in appetite or bathroom habits
- New lumps, bumps, or physical symptoms
- Mood or behavior shifts
- Updates to their routine or diet
Bringing these notes to your visit helps us give your pet the most personalized care possible. And if you ever need to switch vets, you’ll already have a handy health history to share.
Choosing the Right Vet
We encourage you to find a veterinarian who’s not only experienced but also gentle, clear, and communicative. If your pet ever needs surgery, dental work, or anesthesia, it’s important to choose a clinic (like ours!) that has the tools and trained staff to keep them safe every step of the way.
Before any anesthetic procedure, we may recommend pre-anesthesia testing, such as lab work and X-rays, especially for older or more fragile pets. This ensures we catch any concerns early and tailor the care plan to your pet’s needs.
Referrals to Specialists
If your pet needs specialized care beyond what we offer in-clinic—like advanced surgery or internal medicine—we’ll refer you to trusted board-certified specialists to ensure they get the best treatment possible.
