Equine Radiology
Equine Radiology: What to Expect
When Do We Use Radiology?
How It Works
A portable X-ray machine is used to take images of the area of concern. Most horses tolerate the procedure well, depending on the area being imaged, and can stand quietly during the exam. In some cases, sedation may be used to help keep the horse still and ensure clear images.
What You’ll See
Radiographs are usually available immediately for review. We’ll walk you through the images, explain any findings, and discuss the next steps for your horse’s care.
Safe and Non-Invasive
Radiology is a quick, safe, and non-invasive procedure with minimal stress on your horse. Our team follows all safety protocols to protect both your horse and our staff.
Common Areas Imaged
- Hooves (e.g., for laminitis or navicular disease)
- Fetlocks, knees, and hocks
- Back and neck
- Skull and teeth
